The first world premiere during this year’s The Game Awards was for a new Nintendo Switch game from Annapurna Interactive and developer Simogo. It’s called Sayonara Wild Hearts, and it’s … very hard to describe.
Based on the fast-paced trailer that aired as part of the pre-show, Sayonara Wild Hearts thrusts players into a cel-shaded world of purples and blues, motorcycles and “dancing devils.” We see a biker gang in hot-pink varsity jackets, a woman in a masquerade mask holding a sword on top of a bike and even someone trading in their hog for a literal stag at one point.
Sayonara Wild Hearts is coming out sometime in 2019, according to its debut trailer.
Previous games from Simogo, a Swedish studio that’s primarily made mobile games, include Year Walk and Bumpy Road. Its most recent title was a puzzle game called SPL-T, which launched on iOS. This is the first dedicated console game from the company.
