Glass is M. Night Shyamalan’s highly anticipated sequel to both Unbreakable and Split, two movies that take place in a an alternate universe where even the most mundane people can develop extraordinary superpowers. After debuting the first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, we now have a look that delves into deeper into Shyamalan’s world-converging sequel.
Unbreakable followed David Dunn (Bruce Willis), who is approached by Price, a comic book shop owner, after a series of accidents that Dunn manages to survive. Price believes that Dunn has superhuman abilities because of his immense luck. Split, which was released in 2017, followed Kevin (James McAvoy), a man with 23 split personalities who also showcases superhuman abilities.
Unbreakable cast members Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard reprise their roles as Dunn’s son and Price’s mother. Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story series) joins the film as the therapist in charge of the three men.
Following the film’s announcement last year, Shyamalan tweeted, “It was always my dream to have both films collide in this third film.” Glass will likely focus on Samuel L. Jackson’s character from Unbreakable, Elijah Price, who widely became known as “Mr. Glass.”
Here’s the official synopsis for Glass:
Glass finds David Dunn pursuing Kevin Wendell Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Elijah Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
Glass will be released on Jan. 18, 2019.
