Destiny 2 Xur location and items, Nov. 9-12

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and now appears all over the map. This week, he’s on Io. You can find Xur hanging out on just north of the Giant’s Scar, in a small cave.

Destiny 2 Xur Io Bungie/Activision

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • The Prospector, Exotic grenade launcher: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Ophidia Spathe, Exotic Hunter chest: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Aeon Safe, Exotic Titan gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Winter’s Guile, Exotic Warlock gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Isochronal Engram: 97 Legendary Shards

Xur’s inventory to caps out at 581 if you’re at 600 power — one Light above your Collection. He also offers specific rolls on each armor piece each week, giving out different perks for the same pieces. We’ve highlighted any great rolls below.

THE PROSPECTOR

The Prospector is a complicated weapon. While it’s a completely adequate grenade launcher, it’s rarely worth an exotic slot. Its perk, Excavation, allows you to simultaneously detonate all grenades that you have recently fired, and the launcher is fully automatic. The grenades also stick to surfaces and deal burn damage. While there isn’t a single late game activity where we’d recommend the Prospector as your exotic weapon of choice, it can be fun in Heroic Public Events, or if you want to challenge yourself on bosses. And for PvP, you’d be better off with Play of the Game or The Colony.

OPHIDIA SPATHE

The Ophidia Spathe chest piece’s exotic perk is Scissor Fingers, which lets hunters throw two knives per charge. This exotic is pretty neat, and throwing knives have always been fun to use in Destiny. This piece is also fairly unique, as it lets players hold two charges of their melee ability while also granting them two charges instantly upon recharge.

With the recent addition of Way of a Thousand Cuts in Forsaken, this is one of the best Hunter chest pieces in the game. When combined with the subclasses unique abilities, you can essentially throw knifes constantly. It’s a really fun playstyle, and definitely worth trying out if you have a Hunter.

This week’s roll: Mobility with low resilience and low recovery, with a choice between resilience and recovery. Tier one gives a choice between unflinching bow aim, unflinching fusion rifle aim and unflinching sniper rifle aim. Tier two offers scout rifle reserves and special ammo finder. If you’re a sniper, this is actually a great roll for you. Pick it up if you want to take out foes at range.

AEON SAFE

Part of the Aeon exotic line added in Curse of Osiris, the Aeon Safe gauntlets are for Titans. Their exotic perk is Aeon Energy, which gives class energy to nearby allies wearing other Aeon armor pieces each time you cast barricade. Non-Aeon users will also receive some energy. This is a terrible exotic and you can easily get it by completing the Curse of Osiris campaign on your Titan. Don’t buy these.

This week’s roll: Medium resilience and medium mobility, with a choice between resilience and mobility. Tier one gives a choice between fusion rifle loader, hand cannon loader and impact induction — reduced grenade cooldown after dealing melee damage. Tier two offers shotgun scavenger and heavy ammo finder. These perks are great, but the exotic is still terrible. Purchase as your own risk.

WINTER’S GUILE

Winter’s Guile is a pretty sub-par exotic. The Warlord’s Sigil increases your melee damage after a melee kill. As you might imagine, this is very situational and rarely useful. Don’t worry about these unless you’re trying to fill our your collection.

This week’s roll: Low mobility with medium recovery, and a choice between mobility and resilience. Tier one gives a choice between fusion rifle loader, hand cannon loader and impact induction — reduced grenade cooldown after dealing melee damage. Tier two offers shotgun scavenger and heavy ammo finder. These perks are great, but the exotic is still not very good. Purchase as your own risk.
